About Joanne
Joanne Vickers has been oil painting for fifteen years. A Columbus, Ohio native, she enjoys capturing both natural phenomena and man-made artifacts in vivid colors and shapes. She believes that oil painting provides her with great opportunities for creative expression,emotional renewal, and spiritual comfort. Her studies have been hugely shaped by two instructors: Angela Gage and Joe Lombardo. She also maintains that her Van Gogh-themed socks are a reliable source of encouragement.In a previous life, Joanne was a tenured university English professor. She has co-authored two books on midlife and published various short stories and academic articles. She still enjoys projects as a writing consultant and book reviewer.She is a member of the Clintonville Arts Guild and Worthington Arts League. Two of her paintings are included in the League’s current exhibition in the Griswold Center.
